He drew an impassioned response by shouting through the crowd about the validity of the US government and taxpayers picking up the tab for saving the mortgages on ‘losers who can’t pay their mortgages.’ This was recorded and posted on YouTube with support rolling in almost instantly, setting off a national reaction. (Rowen, 2011) Earlier protests were aimed at taxation, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, as well as at various health care reform bills. Islamic Financing vs the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) Essay

The research article discusses two approaches, one method is Islamic financing and other is the conventional capital asset pricing model (CAPM). Using the direct Musharakah, Islamic financing method is applied against the conventional financing method by comparing each other. Comparing the two approaches has drawn several findings; it is found that the beta-risk is lower on investments, which are based on the partnership of Islamic financing as compared to the conventional market. The risk is on the share of the lenders and others but not on the risk-return. Equilibrium exists between the relative risk and the share of lender, furthermore, it is also discussed in the article that Islamic financing is not based on the fixed and predetermined rate of interest, prediction of inflation in future and the partnerships, which are based on the minimum risk with maximum return. Islamic financing is spreading with the growth rate of 23% annually and many Islamic financing banks and institutio ns are working all over the world. The primary objective of this article is to lay down the hypothetical framework, which discusses the Profit and loss sharing based on Islamic principles with the investment of interest free partnership. For instance, consider the USA First Class stamp. On its upper left corner, the number 2008 shows that this stamp was produced in year 2008. The right side of the stamp says â€Å"USA FIRST-CLASSS FOREVER†, meaning that this postage stamp is valid for First-Class postage in the United States no matter when it is used.There is an extraordinary metal bell is in the middle of the stamp – the Liberty Bell, a venerable historic relic that I am going to analyze in the rest of this research paper. The bell was first known by the world as a metal musical instrument in ancient China. Tuned bells in that age were created and played to be performed only for imperial families and noblemen, as a symbol of power and status. Later on, bells became widely used in different religions. For example, bells played an importa nt role in the Eastern world of Buddhism and Hinduism as temple bells.In western world, bells were commonly used as church bells or town bells for gathering people together. In 1752, the Quaker William Penn, legislator and founder of the Pennsylvania colony in 1682, had decided and commissioned the bell to be cast in London, and brought to North America to hang in the State House of the colony of Pennsylvania. â€Å"They had ordered very precisely that these prophetic words from the Old Testament be cast on the bell: ‘Proclaim Liberty throughout all the Land unto all the Inhabitants thereof. ’ † Obviously, the Liberty Bell represents the important value of liberty and freedom in Pennsylvania colony.Charlene Mires, the associate professor of history of Villanova University, thinks adults viewed the Liberty Bell as an object lesson – â€Å"a means for securing the nation’s future, children could experience it as enormous fun. But the lesson was not j ust the bell was more than an inanimate object. † There are many famous and great bells around the world: for instance, the Mingun Bell in north of Mandalay, Burma, the Largest ringing bell in the world; Tsar Kolokol III Bell, located in Moscow; the Big Ben in London and so on. Even though the Liberty Bell wasn’t the largest, eaviest, or most beautiful bell among these famous bells around the world, perhaps no other bell in the world has ever played a greater historic role than this cracked liberty bell. 2. The Liberty Bell as a symbol of the Declaration of Independence. The Liberty Bell is one of the most significant symbols throughout American history. Even through it is now one of the world’s great icons of freedom, the Liberty Bell wasn’t always so symbolic. At the beginning, the bell was only used to call the Pennsylvania assembly to meetings, just like a normal town bell.Many people think the story of the liberty bell started with it ringing to annou nce the Declaration of Independence on Fourth of July; however, the truth is, the bell did not ring until the eighth of July, the day when they called Philadelphians together for the first public reading of Declaration of Independence by Colonel John Nixon. The Declaration of Independence was an announcement that the thirteen American Colonies were at war with Great Britain as independent states and no longer a part of British Empire.The Declaration states, â€Å"When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Natures God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. † I have found that there is much knowledge to be learned from the Declaration of Independence.It taught me think that all men are created equal, and all men have the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that was given by God. The Declaration of Independence shows that American people have suffered too much from the British Empire, and the American people do not want slavery, but liberty. It is for that reason that they rang the Liberty Bell on July 4th 1776. Many people may have noticed that the huge crack on the Liberty Bell. Because of it, this two-thousand-pound mass of unstable metal nearly ended up being garbage.There are various storys about how the bell was cracked. For instance, an eighty-six-year-old man told the New-York Times in 1911 that he cracked the bell in 1835 – he would have been 10 years old at that time! Among the numerous versions of the tales of the cracking bell, the most reputable and famous account is that the bell cracked when Philadelphia’s city government rung the bell on Washington’s Birthday in 1843. Luckily, instead of being forg otten and abandoned by the world because the loss of its voice, the liberty bell gradually became a priceless and great national treasure. . Liberty Bell travels around the United States between 1885-1915. After the Liberty Bell was no longer used as working bell, especially in the years after the Civil War, it started its patriotic trips that involved itself in many obscure events in American history. It traveled by rail car around the United States, and was also placed on exhibit at numerous World’s Fairs. From 1885 to 1915, the Liberty Bell traveled by rail on seven separate trips to eight different World’s Fair exhibitions, visiting nearly 400 cities and towns on those trips from coast to coast.Here are some of the major cities and events that the Liberty Bell has traveled to. This was how New York Times reported the New-Orleans Exposition before Liberty Bell went to New-Orleans on December 17, 1884: â€Å"This has been a day of nerveless reaction after the great strain of opening day, there were but very few visitors to the grounds, not a thousand. † Everything was changed after the Liberty Bell came to the New-Orleans Exposition. January 26th, 1885, was a great day for the New-Orleans World’s Industrial and Cotton Exposition, and for New Orleans citizens.Because â€Å"extensive preparations had been made for the reception of the Liberty Bell from Philadelphia,† the New York Times proudly announced their venerable guest on Jan 27, 1885. Large numbers of citizens of New Orleans and Philadelphia met the Liberty Bell train at that point, surging forward to touch and kiss the bell. Salutes were fired, whistles blown, and flags were displayed on the exhibit with patriotic music. After the Panama-Pacific International Exposition ended at December 4th 1915, the exposition officials returned the bell and wrote, â€Å"You will be pleased to know that while the Liberty Bell was here in San Francisco, eight million people came to see it! † Even nowadays, several millions people visit the Independence Hall each year, pondering the meaning of the Liberty Bell. During this travel to world’s fairs and exhibitions, â€Å"the Liberty Bell joined the array of American symbols that excited patriotic enthusiasm during this period in United States history, a time marked by regional reconciliation, high immigration, economic transition, and imperial expansion. â€Å"In its travels, the Liberty Bell did not lose its identity as a historic relic. Actually, the Liberty Bell became something more. † Instead of Philadelphians and other visitors going to Independence Hall in Philadelphia to experience the Liberty Bell, other Americans can also see the Bell at the center of lively hometown festivities. The trips of the Liberty Bell gav e wide public attention to each city and town where the liberty train stopped, so civilians were well prepared to welcome their historic guest.People brought their children from miles away to see the Liberty Bell, to hear its patriotic tunes, to reach out and touch it, and to stage ceremonies in the hopes that their children would long remember its national glory. Because of these travels, Americans beyond Philadelphia had a chance to enhance the relic’s reputation. Postage stamps are not just small pieces of paper. Their pictures are not chosen randomly, they are chosen to present certain thoughts or feelings that a nation wants to project to people. The bell was first known by the world as a metal musical instrument in ancient China. Tuned bells in that age were created and played to be performed only for imperial families and noblemen, as a symbol of power and status. Later on, bells became widely used in different religions. For example, bells played an importa nt role in the Eastern world of Buddhism and Hinduism as temple bells.In western world, bells were commonly used as church bells or town bells for gathering people together. In 1752, the Quaker William Penn, legislator and founder of the Pennsylvania colony in 1682, had decided and commissioned the bell to be cast in London, and brought to North America to hang in the State House of the colony of Pennsylvania. â€Å"They had ordered very precisely that these prophetic words from the Old Testament be cast on the bell: ‘Proclaim Liberty throughout all the Land unto all the Inhabitants thereof. ’ † Obviously, the Liberty Bell represents the important value of liberty and freedom in Pennsylvania colony.Charlene Mires, the associate professor of history of Villanova University, thinks adults viewed the Liberty Bell as an object lesson – â€Å"a means for securing the nation’s future, children could experience it as enormous fun. But the lesson was not j ust the bell was more than an inanimate object. † There are many famous and great bells around the world: for instance, the Mingun Bell in north of Mandalay, Burma, the Largest ringing bell in the world; Tsar Kolokol III Bell, located in Moscow; the Big Ben in London and so on. Even though the Liberty Bell wasn’t the largest, eaviest, or most beautiful bell among these famous bells around the world, perhaps no other bell in the world has ever played a greater historic role than this cracked liberty bell. 2. The Liberty Bell as a symbol of the Declaration of Independence. The Liberty Bell is one of the most significant symbols throughout American history. Even through it is now one of the world’s great icons of freedom, the Liberty Bell wasn’t always so symbolic. At the beginning, the bell was only used to call the Pennsylvania assembly to meetings, just like a normal town bell.Many people think the story of the liberty bell started with it ringing to annou nce the Declaration of Independence on Fourth of July; however, the truth is, the bell did not ring until the eighth of July, the day when they called Philadelphians together for the first public reading of Declaration of Independence by Colonel John Nixon. The Declaration of Independence was an announcement that the thirteen American Colonies were at war with Great Britain as independent states and no longer a part of British Empire.The Declaration states, â€Å"When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Natures God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. † I have found that there is much knowledge to be learned from the Declaration of Independence.It taught me think that all men are created equal, and all men have the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that was given by God. The Declaration of Independence shows that American people have suffered too much from the British Empire, and the American people do not want slavery, but liberty. It is for that reason that they rang the Liberty Bell on July 4th 1776. Many people may have noticed that the huge crack on the Liberty Bell. Because of it, this two-thousand-pound mass of unstable metal nearly ended up being garbage.There are various storys about how the bell was cracked. For instance, an eighty-six-year-old man told the New-York Times in 1911 that he cracked the bell in 1835 – he would have been 10 years old at that time! Among the numerous versions of the tales of the cracking bell, the most reputable and famous account is that the bell cracked when Philadelphia’s city government rung the bell on Washington’s Birthday in 1843. Luckily, instead of being forg otten and abandoned by the world because the loss of its voice, the liberty bell gradually became a priceless and great national treasure. . Liberty Bell travels around the United States between 1885-1915. After the Liberty Bell was no longer used as working bell, especially in the years after the Civil War, it started its patriotic trips that involved itself in many obscure events in American history. It traveled by rail car around the United States, and was also placed on exhibit at numerous World’s Fairs. From 1885 to 1915, the Liberty Bell traveled by rail on seven separate trips to eight different World’s Fair exhibitions, visiting nearly 400 cities and towns on those trips from coast to coast.Here are some of the major cities and events that the Liberty Bell has traveled to. January 26th, 1885, was a great day for the New-Orleans World’s Industrial and Cotton Exposition, and for New Orleans citizens.Because â€Å"extensive preparations had been made for the reception of the Liberty Bell from Philadelphia,† the New York Times proudly announced their venerable guest on Jan 27, 1885. Large numbers of citizens of New Orleans and Philadelphia met the Liberty Bell train at that point, surging forward to touch and kiss the bell. Salutes were fired, whistles blown, and flags were displayed on the exhibit with patriotic music. After the Panama-Pacific International Exposition ended at December 4th 1915, the exposition officials returned the bell and wrote, â€Å"You will be pleased to know that while the Liberty Bell was here in San Francisco, eight million people came to see it! † Even nowadays, several millions people visit the Independence Hall each year, pondering the meaning of the Liberty Bell. During this travel to world’s fairs and exhibitions, â€Å"the Liberty Bell joined the array of American symbols that excited patriotic enthusiasm during this period in United States history, a time marked by regional reconciliation, high immigration, economic transition, and imperial expansion. â€Å"In its travels, the Liberty Bell did not lose its identity as a historic relic. Actually, the Liberty Bell became something more. † Instead of Philadelphians and other visitors going to Independence Hall in Philadelphia to experience the Liberty Bell, other Americans can also see the Bell at the center of lively hometown festivities. The trips of the Liberty Bell gav e wide public attention to each city and town where the liberty train stopped, so civilians were well prepared to welcome their historic guest.People brought their children from miles away to see the Liberty Bell, to hear its patriotic tunes, to reach out and touch it, and to stage ceremonies in the hopes that their children would long remember its national glory. Because of these travels, Americans beyond Philadelphia had a chance to enhance the relic’s reputation. Postage stamps are not just small pieces of paper. Their pictures are not chosen randomly, they are chosen to present certain thoughts or feelings that a nation wants to project to people. I believe there are reasons USPS (United States Postal Service) made this Forever Liberty Bell stamp. Churner (2014) writes an interesting article portraying Apple's return to the bond market in 2014. In April 2014 Apple completed its second blockbuster bond sale in a year. Apple sold $ban of debt of varying maturities at interest rates that were mostly less than a percentage point above comparable U. S. Treasury debt (Churner, 2014). This sale goes a long way in highlighting the faith in the prospects of Apple. However, this has turned around in 2014 as expectations have deteriorated.Apple does have a lathe cash pile ($1 ban) but there are a range of investors that fear selling bonds to reward shareholders can ding the value of a company's outstanding debt. In order for the value of Apple's bonds to remain strong it must ensure that it keeps its products as industry leaders; as soon as this is not the case the demand to invest in Apple bonds will shrink and the price will fall. Worktables (2013) attempts to explain why a company like Apple with such high cash levels would want to issue bonds; fundamentally issued by companies to raise cash.This essentially comes down to a irk in the tax regime: â€Å"According to analyst estimates, Apple has $Bonn of cash- but only $ban on hand in the U. McCray World Literature Themes Professor Jenkins Essay #3 Amadeus Antonio Salieri shared a fanciful vision of his life with his audience, in Peter Schaffer play, Amadeus. His self-conscious, expressionistic views, not only provide the audience with useful information, but allow a glimpse of his inner thoughts, as once a famous musician in Vienna. The play is structured like a confession, which my explortation will reveal deep truths about human inequality, rebellion, pride, envy, and his relentless character that may be deemed mediocre. Amadeus is based on the lives of two famous composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri. The title of the play name means â€Å"God – lover† or â€Å"Loved by God† and gives a ironic reference to Salieri relationship with God. At the opening of the play, Mozart and Salieri have not met in person, but have heard of the other music. Salieri is thrilled at the chance to meet Mozart at a time both composition will be played. Salieri cannot match the personality and the charm of Mozart with the massive genius that God has bestowed upon him to compose beautiful music. He cannot believe God would reject him and choose another. Schaffer play is presented in a factual and artistic form that reveals the struggles, guilt nd need for the redemption of mankind. Redemption connotes the deliverance of man from the enslavement of sin. Throughout the play, Salieri had been possessed by one driving desire, to serve God through music, but he struggled with the perception of the falsehood of God choosing another. He is in distress with his findings that the true voice of God seems to have emanated from his childhood. As a child, he made a pact with God vowing to give his life in exchange for fame. One of his greatest desires was to make beautiful music, in reverence to God. Thus, he believed God’s favor of Mozart ingenious caused him to become mute, and he ecried the mediocrity of his writings. He felt the success of a popular composer depends on his melody, but with his inability to speak, he’d no longer be admonished. His music was written to glorify God. When Salieri heard Mozart play, he was stirred with indignation and began to question God. â€Å"Why did you give Mozart the talent†? He confesses that through Mozart’s music, he hears â€Å"the voice of God. † Salieri question why such a â€Å"vulgar creature† is favored and wishes he was as good a musician. Thus, he begins to question the value of his moral life and rejects God. Salieri believed God is one that makes bargains and one that will take a bargain back. He revolted against God and felt betrayal. Individuals are held responsible for the gifts and talents of God. Salieri had been entrusted with the gifts of God for a season. Unknowing, â€Å"All are equal in the sight of God† and he will rain on the unjust as well as the just. † God is the giver of all gifts and there is variance. The attitude you embrace in life, determines your level of success and well being. However, without the right knowledge of God, we can’t receive from Him or experience the overflow of His blessings. God will give grace to the humble and resist the proud. All should strive to posses the virture of humility. Throughout the play Salieri masquerades as Mozart colleague, while at the same time he makes an oath to do all in his power to destroy his success. In this scene, Salieri presents a dramatic argument of play that suggests the idea to murder Mozart. He had thoughts to know how it would feel to kill another. Salieri wanted to triumph through the life, fame and the music of Mozart. He worshipped and idolized the brillance of Mozart. He wanted to confess his inner feelings with Mozart and sk for forgiveness. Mozart did not have a personal relationship with God, but he created images of love, joy, forgiveness and reconciliation. He felt, â€Å"people make mistakes who think my art has come easily to me. Nobody has devoted so much time and thought to composition as I. There is not a famous master whose music I have not studied over and over. † In closing, God does not have re spect of person. He gives diversities of gifts several as he chooses to individuals for his glory. Jealousy can be cruel and deceptive. We should not want to see others suffer for us to be great.

I enjoy assisting people in varies ways, I am capable of working in groups, and I have good verbal and nonverbal communication skills. My secondary interest is in enterprising. I can effectively lead and manage others, respond well to competition, and working as part of a team. Also, I am willing to take chances; I value status, power, money, and material possessions (Your Top Interest Areas). I describe myself as ambitious and energetic. I have skills in the following areas: mathematics, active listening, science, speaking, learning strategies, critical thinking, writing, reading comprehension, active learning, and monitoring (Your Basic Skills). In my opinion, these skills will help me to succeed at this profession. To be a college professor you must have interests in investigative, social, and artistic (Is This For You). I already posses a social interest and believe I can obtain the others with practice and work in those areas. The skills needed to excel in this career are being able to understand written sentences and paragraphs, listening to others and ask relevant questions, you must be able to communicate through writing with students and peers. You must be able to convey information through speak, use mathematics to solve problems, use the scientific method to solve problems, identify and analyze the strengths and weaknesses of different learning strategies, work to learn new information so you can better teach it to your students. Also, you must be able to vary your learning strategies to cater to your students different learning styles, and you must be able to monitor them to ensure your students are understanding the information you are conveying to them (Skills You Need). In this profession, I will have to perform many duties. I will have to develop teaching materials, prepare and give exams, grade assignments; papers, class work, and homework. I will need to prepare and give speeches, and lectures to my students. Also, I will compile, administer, and grade examinations (What They Do). Professors can expect to earn $33,155 $69,582 annually with the average being $69,582 or between $15.94 and $30.60 hourly with an average of $25.72 in Florida. Although the national earnings are higher were professors earn $60,798 $103,688, with a national average of $87,276 (Money and Outlook). To be a college professor, I must obtain a Masters Degree. I plan to finish my Associates of Arts at Daytona State College. After receiving my AA, I plan to continue at Daytona State to get my Bachelors of Arts. With a BA I could teach kindergarten through high school, but I plan to get my Masters. I am currently undecided on where I will transfer to get my Masters. In conclusion, I feel I am well suited for a career as a college professor. My interests, and skills, in my opinion, match up well with the interest and skills required to excel as a professor. Metre, Meter, and Mete Metre, Meter, and Mete Metre, Meter, and Mete By Maeve Maddox Numerous readers wrote to correct me regarding the following entry in my post about commonly confused words that begin with M: 5. meter / metre Both words are nouns. A  meter  is a measuring device, like a gas meter.  Metre  is a metric unit or a type of rhythm in verse. American speakers wrote to point out that the standard US spelling for the metric unit is meter, never metre. Speakers from the UK and Canada wrote to tell me that they never have occasion to write meter, only metre. So, how inaccurate is my meter/metre entry? Regarding standard British usage, it is completely accurate. Regarding standard American usage, it fails on two counts: 1. It fails to mention that meter is the standard US spelling for the metric unit. 2. It does not mention the fact that meter has also become acceptable US spelling for the word that refers to the rhythmic structure of a verse. Apologies to my American readers are therefore in order. Meter, it is, for all three meanings. As for devices that measure such things as gas and electricity, the spelling meter is standard in British usage. Both words, metre and meter, have their remote origins in an Indo-European word for measure. The English word metre in the sense of poetic rhythm was already in use during the Old English period. The original Latin word, metrum, could mean â€Å"poetic measure† or â€Å"a vessel or other object used for measuring.† The word metre in the sense of â€Å"a metric unit† entered English from French mà ¨tre in 1797, two years after the metric system was formally defined in French law.    The noun meter in the sense of â€Å"a mechanical measuring device† was introduced in the nineteenth century by the inventor of a gas meter. His use of the word had nothing to do with metre in either the sense of poetic rhythm or the metric system. The meter in â€Å"gas meter† derives from the English verb to mete (â€Å"to measure†), a verb that has existed in English since Old English times. Before the inventor used meter in the context of his mechanism, the occupational term meter existed for a person whose job was to measure things. The verb mete survives in current usage with the meanings â€Å"to apportion† or â€Å"to deal out.† It is usually used with the particle out. Here are examples of recent usage: Pfeffer says powerful people do certain things to advance their own agendas. One of these is to mete out resources.
